3) It’s All About Winning For The KC Royals

The KC Royals have 3,720 wins in their franchise history, upon this writing. That ranks 22th in the majors since 1969. Of the ten teams beneath them, six – Blue Jays, Mariners, Marlins, Rockies, Diamondbacks, and Rays – all started play after the Royals did.

That leaves four franchises that were around in 1969 that have won less than the Royals – Padres, Brewers (including a year as the Pilots), Cubs, and Nationals (including their years as the Expos).  All but the Cubs started play in 1969, as well.

In 2013-2015, the Royals won more than 81 games in consecutive seasons for the first time since they did it three years in a row in 1987, 1988, and 1989.

They did have back-to-back campaigns over .500 in 1993, and the strike shortened 1994 campaign.

Did You Know?

From 1975 through 1985, the Royals won 951 games, the fourth most in the Majors over that time. Only the Orioles, Yankees, and Dodgers had more.

In these 11 years, they won seven American League West titles, went to two World Series, and were the World Champions in 1985.
