KC Royals News: Changes In the Rotation Could Be Coming

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Royals news from around the internet from the past few days.

There has been a lot of worried Kansas City Royals fans over the early struggles of the starting rotation. Yordano Ventura and Danny Duffy have not lived up to the one and two starter spots they’ve been assigned (although Ventura looked great on Tuesday night against the Reds, not allowing a run), and Jeremy Guthrie and Jason Vargas have been inconsistent to say the least. Edinson Volquez is by far the best starter and even he has had his struggles.

The Royals will have a decision to make when Vargas comes off the disabled list at the end of the week. Chris Young has been pitching way too well to be put back into the bullpen.

Here’s what’s buzzing on Fansided.com about the Royals’ rotation issues.

Even if the Royals are not quite to the point of looking to make a trade or have any drastic changes in their rotation, Cafardo reported that scouts are out and about, scouring the landscape for low cost starters."

KC Royals Fantasy Heroes: Edinson Volquez Shuts Down Yankees [KC Kingdom]

"It’s no secret KC’s starting rotation has struggled as a whole this season, and Volquez was a small part of the problem prior to his latest outing. In his previous two starts he went a total of eight innings, had a 7.88 ERA, and walked nine batters while striking out just six, ironically picking up the victory in both outings."

Kansas City Royals Danny Duffy and the Ineffective Fastball [Kings of Kauffman]

"Unfortunately, until Duffy figures it out, I’d expect a lot more of the same. We could be breaking down Joe Blanton‘s first start as a member of the Kansas City Royals if Duffy doesn’t straighten things out against the Cardinals this weekend. He may have a longer leash than some guys… but something’s got to give."

Could KC Be a Royal Fit for Johnny Cueto? [Cincinnati.com]

"The Royals would be an intriguing spot for Cueto, and one where he could help his market even more with a strong postseason showing, which is maybe the only thing missing from Cueto’s resume as he looks to be the top free agent on the market."

"It can be a humbling process, leading to humiliating results. But if Moustakas was ever going to live up to expectations as a former first-round pick, he knew it was necessary. The work has paid off. This season, he’s hitting .319."
