The need for a defensive tackle is big and that’s why the Kansas City Chiefs should take a look at Derrick Lott. Lott might have played football at a smaller school in Tennessee-Chattanooga, but that doesn’t take away from what type of player he is – a beastly one.

More from KC Kingdom

Lott played his first two years of college football with the Georgia Bulldogs, but decided to transfer to Tennessee-Chattanooga after he wasn’t receiving a whole lot of playing time. That seems to concern some analysts, the fact that he only played in five games, but overall I think Lott is worth the risk of a fifth round pick.

A lot of people won’t like the Chiefs going with a defensive tackle since they’ve already acquired multiple cornerbacks, but just keep in mind that not every pick has to be a flashy one. Kansas City needs to keep that defense as scary as possible, and adding Derrick Lott could continue that tradition.

"Skilled pass rusher who understands the position and was simply too athletic and too talented for most of the competition he faced while at Tennessee-Chattanooga. Is a natural fit as a three-technique in a 4-3 defense, but could garner consideration as a 3-4 defensive end if he can prove he’s strong enough. – NFL.com"
