KC Chiefs 2015 NFL Draft Wish List: Day Two
Number Ten
La’el Collins was on our wish list of top five players for the KC Chiefs to draft with the 18th pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft but then reports came out that he was wanted for questioning on the death of a woman that he may have fathered a child with.
Collins then tried to pull his name from the draft so he could focus on his legal issues and then enter the supplemental draft, but the NFL denied his request and several teams removed him from their boards all together.
It should be noted that police say Collins is not a suspect but after the Aaron Hernandez incident teams are wary when it comes to situations of that severity.
The talent of Collins can not be questioned though as he is one of the best tackles in the draft and may be worth the risk with the 98th overall pick which is the KC Chiefs compensatory pick at the end of the third round.
"Collins sports a thick, powerful frame that makes him about as difficult to move as a chest freezer. His frame belies his quick feet, an attribute that when combined with his long arms, impressive strength and aggression make him a devastating run blocker. Collins is often the quickest of LSU’s offensive linemen off the snap and he routinely drives his assignment off the line of scrimmage with pure power, creating easy running lanes for LSU’s backs. -Courtesy of Rob Rang of CBS Sports"
Collins is rated as the third best offensive tackle, and the 18th best overall prospect in the 2015 NFL Draft according to CBS Sports. If Collin does fall to the 98th pick then I could not fault the Chiefs for giving Collins the opportunity if they feel the risk is worth the possible reward.
