Obviously there are still areas for the team to improve on, just like any team in the league. It’s also worth noting that it’s still very early on in the season and anything could happen between now and September.

While everyone in Kansas City would likely see anything less than a second consecutive World Series appearance as a disappointment, it’s tough to make it to the biggest game in baseball two years in a row.

First, take injuries into consideration. Alex Rios has already been put on the DL after getting hit by a pitch against the Twins on Monday. Rios was an incredible force on the offense and on the defense, and this could set the boys in blue back a few steps (Source of link: David Kills, Kings of Kauffman).

Alex Gordon has struggled so far this season, after having wrist surgery in the off-season. He’s been getting some rest though, and his backup Paulo Orlando has looked promising. Hopefully, Gordon can bounce back though because he is without a doubt, one of the leaders on this team (Source of link: Blair Kerkhoff, Kansas City Star).

Yordano Ventura has had to leave both games he’s pitched in early due to cramps. Give the boy some water please. The Royals cannot afford to lose Ventura, who is undoubtedly the ace of this ball club.

Salvador Perez will need some rest and so far, even in blow out games, he’s still out there. Erik Kratz needs to get some playing time because we all saw how tired Perez was by the end of the season last year. He couldn’t hit well at all, and it was due to the fact that he was playing in every game.

I’m only 24 years old and haven’t experienced a time where it’s been “cool” to be a Royals fan. The past eight months or so have been just that. Finally, it’s cool to be a Kansas City Royals fan.

Ned Yost could pull Perez when games get out of hand. There is no reason for him to be on the field in a 12-3 blowout in the ninth inning. Give Kratz an opportunity to play in those situations so we can avoid an injury to Perez or a tired Perez.

Omar Infante’s struggles at the plate are worrisome also. It might be time to stick Christian Colon in for a game or two and see how he does. Infante’s paycheck will buy him the benefit of the doubt, but so far, he hasn’t been at the top of his game.

So far though, the ride has been fun. I dedicate my time to watch the Kansas City Royals whenever they play, and don’t shut the TV off even if it’s a blowout.
