The Kansas City Chiefs should feel great about their running game in 2015 and beyond. Anthony Sherman is under contract through 2017, Knile Davis through 2016, and Jamaal Charles through 2017, according to Spotrac.com.

Charles is still young. He turned 28 in December, but he is starting to get some mileage on his body. Over the next two seasons, we may see Charles’ touches be similar to 2014, and Davis should see more action.

The big decision for the Chiefs will come after the 2016 season, Charles will most likely be in the twilight of his career, and the team will have to evaluate Davis, and decide if Davis will be worth a heftier contract and a heavier workload.

Charles needs 1,144 yards next year to top the 8,000 yards rushing for his career, and just 878 yards from scrimmage to go over the 10,000 yard-mark.

He is becoming an iconic Kansas City Chiefs star, and watching him every game is as good as it gets from a fan’s stand point.

As long as the coaching staff can spread out the offensive touches between Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis in an appropriate manner over the next couple of years, the KC Chiefs should not have to worry about their running game.

If the Chiefs can improve the offensive line, and upgrade the receiving corps, the running game could be even better. If the line can open bigger holes to run through, and the passing game can take some of the focus off off the running game, Charles and Davis can combine for some very big numbers.

The running game should be at least as good in 2015 as it was in 2014.
