KC Chiefs: Should The Chiefs Have A Drastic New Helmet Design

facebooktwitterreddit

The KC Chiefs have pretty much had the same helmet design since their move to Kansas City in 1963. The Chiefs were originally the Dallas Texans when the franchise launched in 1960.

Thankfully, owner Lamar Hunt moved the team to Kansas City, and the team kept the basic uniforms and color scheme of the Texans. The helmet, which featured a big image of the state of Texas obviously wasn’t going to work, so as the story goes, Hunt sketched out a new design for the Chiefs’ helmet on a napkin.

Other than small alterations now and then to make the design more modern, the Chiefs helmet design has stayed the same through the decades. All have been modern and stayed true to with the white arrowhead, outlined in black, with red interlocked letters, on a red helmet.

So what would you think of a drastic new helmet design? The Chiefs are rather boring when it comes to alternate uniforms or helmets. About the most radical thing they do is red pants and red jerseys.

As fans, do you sometimes wish the Kansas City Chiefs would just do something radical? Just mix things up a little? Or do you like the locally iconic uniforms and helmets?

For fun, Deeyung Entertainment has designed a new helmet for all thirty-two NFL teams. Some of them are pretty radical; others not so much. The KC Chiefs helmet is basically the same except for the helmet color.

What do you think? This bright yellow head gear, features the same logo, though it is a bit enlarged, and is trimmed in red, with a red face mask. The color is certainly eye-catching, and has a nice cool look, while staying true to the KC Chiefs logo and team colors.

Would you mind seeing the Chiefs use an alternate helmet one week a year, maybe coupled with some modern, alternative uniforms?

Or are you a traditionalist, who loves the look already, and see no reason to be doing anything crazy?

In college football, alternative uniforms and helmets are common place. Some schools wear a different combo each week. Would you welcome a departure in the NFL from the same old, same old?

Personally, I wouldn’t want the KC Chiefs to change uniforms and helmets each week.

What might be fun though, is for there to be two sets of alternative uniforms and helmets each year – one home set, one road set.

Thanks to Deeyung Entertainment for their fun helmet designs, and to BroBible.com for calling our attention to them. Just to be clear – the helmets and uniforms for the Kansas City Chiefs are not changing. These designs are for entertainment purposes.

How about it Kansas City Chiefs fans – are you a traditionalist, or would like to see something new?
