I’m not going to pretend to act like I know what I’m talking about when it comes to offensive linemen. When it comes to statistics, it’s hard to judge a tackle on his numbers.

However, after watching Missouri all season, I am certain that the rushing efforts of Murphy and Russell Hansbrough were at least aided by the blocking efforts of Mitch Morse.

On top of that, Morse finished 2nd among all offensive linemen draft prospects in the bench press test with 36 reps. Morse is already working to prove to the NFL scouts that he is worth taking with that 7th round draft pick, and some team may do it just based off that strength he showed at the combine.

Maybe the combine does matter after all.

Here’s another draft profile by Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, this time about Morse.

"Hard charging with necessary grit. Smart linemen who understands his shortcomings and makes the proper adjustments…Needs more hip snap at contact for added power. His short arms are a concern as a tackle."
