Obviously if the Chiefs go with an offensive lineman in round one, then they need to snatch up a wide receiver in round two. In this particular mock draft, the best wide receiver on the board by the time the Chiefs’ second round pick came around was Sammie Coates.

Sammie Coates spent three years with Auburn and very well could be a new wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015. Coates had 1,757 yards and 13 touchdowns during his three-year career with the Tigers.

Coates wouldn’t be a starter more than likely, but 2015 could be a grooming year so to speak because he very well has the ability to become a future starter. At 6’2″, Sammie Coates looks the part of a star receiver according to NFL.com‘s Lance Zierlein.

"Outstanding combination of size and speed. Good acceleration off the snap for a receiver with his length. Can take top off defense and open up the underneath. Will beat bold cornerbacks over the top if they wait to turn and run. Forces cornerbacks onto their heels and gets easy, open looks on dig routes. Makes easy in-cut with maximum separation. Ability to win big plays vertically. Saved best performances for big games. Put 206 yards and two touchdowns on Alabama in 2014."

Sammie Coates impressed many at the Senior Bowl after stating he wanted to be considered more than just a “deep threat guy” (Source of link: Mike Herndon of AL.com). Coates did just that, as Charles Davis and Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network both said Sammie Coates impressed them.

"“Today he did a nice job,” said Jeremiah, a former NFL scout. “We saw him on slants, we saw him on a lot of underneath stuff, really using his hands, extending and plucking the football. He’s been impressive.” – Courtesy of Mike Herndon of AL.com"
