Round 2, Pick 16

With the 16th pick in the second round of my 2015 NFL Mock Draft the KC Chiefs select Dorial Green-Beckham.

More from Chiefs Draft Analysis

Chiefs fans may be familiar with Green-Beckham from his time as a star Wide Receiver for the Missouri Tigers. Like Winston, Dorial has had several off the field incidents that have hurt his stock.

After graduating high school Dorial has had several incidents with the law mostly related to marijuana. Dorial’s Freshman year he was arrested for possession of marijuana in Columbia, Missouri. Green-Beckham was suspended one game following that arrest.

"Green-Beckham was the subject of an investigation by Columbia, Mo., police this week after an 18-year-old Missouri student said the receiver forced open her apartment door at 2:30 a.m. Sunday while trying to see his girlfriend, a friend of the alleged victim. -Edward Aschoff of ESPN"

Green-Beckham was later dismissed from the University of Missouri football team and later joined the Oklahoma Sooners. Green-Beckham had to sit out the entire 2014 season with Oklahoma and was expected to play the 2015 season with the Sooners, but opted to enter the 2015 NFL Draft instead.

Green-Beckham isn’t the first player to enter the draft following an ineligible season, former LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu did it in 2013 and was drafted in the third round by the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite the off the field issues, Green-Beckham is an elite talent and could potentially be the Wide Receiver the Chiefs so desperately need, especially if they cut Dwayne Bowe.

"Natural body power to trample defensive backs after the catch and uses his hands well downfield to fight for positioning without blatantly drawing attention to himself. Hangs in the air with the leaping ability to highpoint and tower over defenders with above-the-rim skills. Improved ballskills and rhythm in his routes to finish and be a dangerous catch-and-go receiver. -Dane Brugler of CBS Sports"

The KC Chiefs have a solid core of players, and can afford to take chances when it comes to potentially elite players in the draft. Drafting Dorial Green-Beckham shows that the team knows they are only a few pieces away from being a threat in the NFL.
