facebooktwitterreddit

The Kansas State Wildcats will play their final game of the season when they head to San Antonio to play in the Alamo Bowl. The opponent on the other side of the field is the UCLA Bruins, who have had quite an impressive season themselves. KC Kingdom has your Kansas State Wildcats live stream and other game time information below.

Alamo Bowl Basics:

K-State had a successful campaign in 2014 with a 9-3 record and now lands at the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas . After last season’s bowl victory out in Tempe, Kansas State will look to make it two bowl wins in a row when they take on #14 UCLA late on Friday afternoon.

More from KC Kingdom

Kansas State finished the 2014 season at 9-3 overall and came in third  in the Big 12 behind co-champions TCU and Baylor. This senior class led by Tyler Lockett, BJ Finney, Ryan Mueller, Jake Waters and others look to end their college careers at Kansas State on a high note.

Here’s what to keep an eye on in the Valero Alamo Bowl for K-State.

Top Matchup: LB Jonathan Truman vs QB Brett Hundley/Bruin Offense

Kansas State defensively will most likely go up against one of the more complete quarterbacks in the nation in UCLA’s Brett Hundley. Hundley has once again thrown for over 3,000 yards, with 21 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. The Wildcats will have their hands full because not only does Hundley throw the football well, he will also runs with it, adding eight touchdowns and over 750 yards rushing.

K-State did not do well containing Trevone Boykin in the game against TCU, giving up 123 yards rushing and three touchdowns. It’s up to K-State’s leading tackler Jonathan Truman and the rest of the defense to make plays and get off the field on third downs.

On the Radar: Tyler Lockett

Lockett has made a huge impact during his playing days at K-State, from special teams, to being an offensive threat, and now being one of the best receivers in the Big 12. Lockett will want to go out with a bang in his final game as a Wildcat. Lockett is now the all-time leading wide receiver in every category for K-State. This season Lockett has 93 catches, 1,351 yards, and nine touchdowns.

Lockett will probably go up against Eric Kendricks, who leads the team in interceptions and in tackles with 139. Jake Waters will look to his favorite target, who needs only seven catches to reach 100 for the year, and one more touchdown to enter double digits in touchdowns.

Under the Radar: Charles Jones

The running game for the Wildcats took a step back this season. Charles Jones and DeMarcus Robinson have one more game to gain some yardage. Jones is the leading rusher for the Wildcats, and if K-State is going to have a chance to beat UCLA, Jones and Robinson will need to be a factor in order to keep the defense of UCLA off balance instead of focusing on Waters and the passing attack.

Keys to the Game:

K-State Offense

This group will need a good performance from their seniors. This game against the Bruins will depend on how well Jake Waters plays, along with Lockett, Sexton, and Finney. In last year’s bowl game against Michigan, Waters had one of the best games of his year throwing for 21-27, 271 yards, and three touchdown passes. Waters and company will need a similar performance to find success against UCLA.

K-State Defense

K-State will need to get off the field on third downs, which has been the issue in the last few big games that the Wildcats have played. Trevone Boykin and Bryce Petty gave the Cats defense fits when it came to third down. In order to win on Friday, the Wildcats will need to make a couple of game changing plays, and contain Brett Hundley.

Keep an eye on Nate Jackson who will make his first start filling in for senior Dylan Schellenberg who was lost to injury in the Baylor game.
