Kansas City Chiefs 2015 Opponents Announced

The 2014 season ended for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday when the Baltimore Ravens were able to clinch the final AFC Wildcard spot. Now it’s time to start looking towards next season and what it brings the Chiefs.

The Chiefs will be playing the AFC North and NFC North in 2015 and will also play the second place teams in the AFC divisions as well as their usual division rivals. (Courtesy of FB Schedules):

Home Games:

The Chiefs will obviously host the three AFC West teams (Denver, Oakland, and San Diego). From the AFC North, the Chiefs will host the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers and from the NFC North, the Chicago Bears will come to Arrowhead Stadium. The Buffalo Bills will also travel to Kansas City after hosting the Chiefs the past three years.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

If you hadn’t heard, a few months back, the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to not only play in London, but to HOST a game in London against the Detroit Lions. That means the Chiefs only have seven home games in 2015, which sucks.

Out of all of these games, the biggest home field advantage for the Chiefs will be against the Steelers and Bears. The Steelers have had the Chiefs’ number the past few times they’ve met, but most of those games have been in Pittsburgh.

Away Games:

The Chiefs will travel to the three AFC West teams, as well as to visit the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. They’ll also head to Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Houston in what should be big games in the AFC.

Of all the teams the KC Chiefs play on the road next season, only Minnesota wasn’t in the still hunt for a playoff berth in the last week of the season in 2014. Throw the Lions into that mix, and this slate of games looks extremely formidable.

To Sum Up

Yeah, it sucks that the Chiefs gave up a home game to play in London, but I still think that game will be winnable for the Chiefs. Traveling to Baltimore, Cincinnati, Green Bay, and Houston will be challenges considering three of those teams made it to the playoffs in 2014 and Houston almost made it into the playoffs.

Kansas City’s biggest mistakes in 2014 were not capitalizing on their home field advantage. They lost to Tennessee in week one, plus dropped an important game to the Denver Broncos  on Sunday Night Football.

Both of these games could have easily been Chiefs’ victories with the crowd noise so Kansas City needs to show up and be loud in 2015 despite only having seven games at Arrowhead Stadium this year.
