KC Chiefs: Defensive Player Profiles Central
By Joel Wagler
The KC Chiefs are coming off the most remarkable single season turnaround in franchise history. After going 2-14 in 2012, the Chiefs took advantage of a last place schedule to go win their first 9 games of the 2013 season, and finished with an 11-5 record.
One year after having the worst record in the NFL, and having the 1st overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Kansas City made the playoffs. A new General manager and Head Coach certainly helped the Chiefs pull off the amazing transition from the worst team in the league to a playoff team.

This season, the challenge to stay a playoff caliber team many be even more difficult. The KC Chiefs have a tougher schedule, and they lost several key pieces from last year’s postseason roster.
Offensive linemen Branden Albert, Geoff Schwartz, and Jon Asamoah have moved on. Dexter McCluster has taken his electric punt returning skills elsewhere.
General Manager John Dorsey and Head Coach Andy Reid have had to bargain shop because the Chiefs are up against the salary cap.
Last season, the defense played very well in the first half of the season but injuries and poor play cost them games down the stretch, including heart breaking defensive collapse in the postseason loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Hopefully, their draft research this year will pay off in a positive way. If some of the players the KC Chiefs brought in as free agents pan out, plus if some of the players already on the roster can develop into viable NFL contributors, the Chiefs have chance to return to the postseason.
