The Kansas City Royals sent Wade Davis out to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday. He preformed well.

Kansas City Royals closer, Wade Davis, tossed 25 pitches in a bullpen session on Tuesday. He felt zero pain. He’ll work in off speed pitches soon.

It might not be too long until Davis hits the road to recovery headed to Triple-A Omaha for a rehab assignment.

This is Davis’ second stint on the disabled list. On July 1st, he suffered a right forearm strain and got sent to the disabled list for the first time this season. He pitched 15-days later on July 16th vs. the Detroit Tigers on the road.

His last game came against the Los Angeles Angels on July 27th. That evening, Davis gave up two runs and walked three while expending 33 pitches. Something was wrong.

The Kansas City Royals sent Wade Davis back to Kansas City from Arlington, Texas during a four game series against the Texas Rangers. He received an MRI a couple of days later. The MRI found no structural damage but it did find a flexor strain in his right elbow.

He got placed on the disabled list again on July 28th. It’s been about two weeks since the “cyborg” needed a repair. The Kansas City Royals playoff hopes haven’t died while “Wader” is rehabbing. The Royals are 59 and 60.

The KC Royals have relied on guys like: Matt Strahm, Joakim Soria, Kelvin Herrera, Peter Moylan and others to step up in the pen. That’s occurred during the past week for the most part.

Matt Strahm has been the most impressive and surprising arm in the bullpen. He’s got a 1.80 ERA (Earned Run Average). Strahm has struck out 11 and walked two for a 5.50 strikeout to walk ratio.

For more on Strahm, take a look at my article I wrote the other day about the guy from West Fargo, North Dakota here.

The Kansas City Royals have won four straight series. The team has won eight of their last ten games and are one game under .500 with 43 games to go.

Unfortunately, The Cleveland Indians have won games as well. The Kansas City Royals are still ten games back in the division. Kansas City takes on Cleveland six more times this season. Three on the road and three at home.

The Royals are 7.5 games out of the last Wild Card slot as well. Wade Davis still has faith that the Kansas City Royals have a chance to make an extremely late season run to the playoffs, via Royals beat reporter, Rustin Dodd on Twitter.

If the Royals continue to play like they have lately, anything is possible. The team that’s on the field right now is worthy of calling World Champions. Maybe the team can make a giant run and make the playoffs for the third straight year in a row.

If the Royals fall short, it would be nice to see this team end above .500. That looks like a possibility now. The team that’s dealt with this many injuries finishing above .500 would be one of the best things to happen this season. We will find out in a month and a half.
