After losing four of the last six games following the All-Star break, the Kansas City Royals took a trip to the White House. The team needed this.

This morning, the 2015 Kansas City Royals team visited the White House and staff. President Obama got in of the festivities by dropping the saying ” Yosted”, reports Josh Vernier of 610 Sports in Kansas City.

There are at least a couple of big time Royals fans in attendance at the White House. They are Bob Dole and Josh Earnest.

Dole represented the state of Kansas as Senator from 1969 to 1996. He also held a House of Representative seat from 1961 through 1969. Fun fact, the Kansas City Royals were founded in 1969 the first year Dole became a Senator for Kansas.

Current White House Press Secretary, Josh Earnest, was born and raise in Kansas City, Missouri on March 10, 1977. He’s been seen sipping his coffee out of a Royals themed mug on occasion.

Earnest received his own personalized championship jersey today. While delivering his daily press update, Ned Yost, Salvador Perez and Eric Hosmer surprised him as they barged into the press conference to hand deliver the sparkling gold jersey to him.

Here’s video evidence of the barrage thanks to ABC News Politics on Twitter.

He also received a baseball and a giant mug in addition to the awesome personalized jersey. In the video, the guy could hardly hold down his excitement. The little kid from Kansas City started to show in a smile he wore from ear to ear, similar to that of Salvador Perez but not as good.

The smiles continued throughout the morning. The Kansas City Royals players were introduced by the President of the United States, Barrack Obama. The goosebumps rose up on Alex Gordon‘s skin as he heard his name called by the president.

Maybe the goosebumps will carry over into the second half for Gordon. He and the team have been struggling to say the least. The Kansas City Royals are a .500 baseball team as of July 21st. The team is six games back of a wild card spot and nine games out of first place in the American League Central Division.

The Royals need a spark of some kind. Maybe taking a break from baseball to bask in the glow of the World Series Championship will help the 2016 team get some hunger back. Making the playoffs as a Wild Card team should be the goal for the Royals. It will be difficult but not impossible.
