The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl and it’s no surprise that Travis Kelce has helped them return.

Kelce continues to be one of the top tight ends in the game and was productive this past season. His 97 receptions ranked third in the NFL behind Las Vegas Raiders rookie Brock Bowers (112) and Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals (111) and his 823 receiving yards ranked fifth behind Bowers (1,194), McBride (1,146), George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers (1,106) and Jonnu Smith of the Miami Dolphins (884).

While he continues to be productive into his late 30s and feels like he still has a lot of football to be played, a lot of focus has been on his potential retirement and what he’ll do after he hangs up the cleats.

Travis Kelce Doesn’t Plan On Retiring But Has Options for Life After Football

Kelce was part of Super Bowl Opening Night festivities on Monday night and was asked about where he believes he’s going to be in three years. While Kelce still has his eyes set on playing beyond Sunday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, he also sees a variety of options when he decides to hang up the cleats.

“I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life, and that’s always been the goal knowing that football only lasts for so long,” Kelce said. “You’ve got to find a way to get into another career, into another profession and I’ve been doing that in my offseasons. But for the most part, I plan on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football.”

While Kelce doesn’t have immediate plans to retire, he’s set himself up well for life after his playing career. He co-hosts the “New Heights” podcast with his brother and former Eagles center Jason Kelce, which is currently sixth on Apple Podcasts list of top sports pods. He also forayed into acting this offseason with his role on the FX series Grotesquerie and was a producer for the movie My Dead Friend Zoe.

Kelce may also have a blueprint for success after Jason has been featured in commercials and is an analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football but he’s still focused on the present. The Eagles are one team that believes Kelce still has it, using unconventional methods to prepare for the Chiefs star and Kelce has no intention of hanging it up as he still enjoys the game.

“I love doing this,” Kelce said of playing football. “I love coming into work every day and I still feel like I’ve got a lot of good football left in me. But we’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”
