As the final stretch of the Kansas City Chiefs' 2026 offseason trudges on, there is little for fans to focus on to help pass the time. We are far removed from draft or free agency excitement, with the roster having taken shape and the schedule long since released. Waiting is all that is left, and this offseason for Chiefs fans has been especially long after the first losing season under Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

With this in mind, let's look ahead over the next few weeks and make four bold predictions on how the Chiefs will fill the final days of the offseason. Starting with a fitting extension that would cap off the offseason perfectly and offer an even higher level of offensive stability.

Chiefs fans can only hope that one final extension gets done for All-Pro center and that Rashee Rice remains quiet.

1. Chiefs extend Creed Humphrey

Humphrey remains an incredibly underrated force anchoring the middle of Kansas City's offensive line. While the center has two years of team control remaining after the 2026 season, an extension makes sense when you consider that the market has been recently reset and the Chiefs could buy themselves a bit of cap room down the road.

At just 27 years old, Humphrey is now entering his prime and has been consistently durable. He should still have plenty of elite seasons left. For Humphrey, it makes sense to stay paired with Patrick Mahomes for as long as possible, and an extension helps accomplish just that while giving the Chiefs the ability to lessen high cap hits that could open the door for another surprise move.

2. Rashee Rice stays healthy and out of trouble

Predicting Rice being both healthy and out of trouble is truly the definition of a bold prediction. With the receiver having spent time jailed due to breaking the terms of his probation, it's hard to believe that even Rice can ignore this wake-up call.

He is entering a contract year in which his long-term career outlook rides on the production and consistency he should be able to provide. As elite a talent as the pass-catcher might be, there is no arguing that the poor decision-making offsets this incredible value and leaves the Chiefs needing to see a full season put together without any bad headlines to even consider a future with Rice.

3. Chiefs cut Kristian Fulton

The only reason not to go ahead with this move is if you want to protect against injuries and make sure there is a backup plan in place if the young cornerback room struggles. Fulton has a higher chance than most to be spending the 2026 season on a different roster, and cutting the defensive back ahead of training camp allows him to get the jump on finding a new landing spot and clears up $5 million in cap space.

With the addition of L'Jarius Sneed, Fulton's veteran presence may no longer be as unique as it once was. Steve Spagnuolo never did find a way to get consistent production from the veteran in the 2025 season, leaving it simply a matter of time until the Chiefs make the right decision and end a frustrating tenure.
