The Kansas City Chiefs may have officially/unofficially ended the Los Angeles Chargers' season in Week 6. Patrick Mahomes and company didn't play a perfect game, but they did more than enough to get another divisional win.

Now, with the November 10 trade deadline looming, most teams will be looking at the Chargers, as they will likely conduct a soft rebuild or a fire sale. Most teams don't deal with divisional rivals, but even the Chiefs should keep an eye on their situation.

While most teams focus on Khalil Mack and Donte Jackson, perhaps the Chiefs can think outside the box and go after the guy most people seem ready to give up on. If the price is right and the Chargers are willing (two big 'ifs'), Brett Veach should go after Quentin Johnston.

The Chiefs should try to trade for Quentin Johnson

Crazy as it may sound, Johnston might be exactly what the Chiefs need right now. He hasn't lived up to the hype after his dominant run at TCU, but he used to be a one-play drive waiting to happen, a big-play specialist, and a prime deep-ball threat.

The Chargers have tried to turn him into something he's never been. He's not a possession receiver, and that's fine. Then, with Ladd McConkey's arrival, plus all the negativity, things only got worse for the former No. 21 overall pick.

That's why a change of scenery might be just what he needs to finally fulfill his potential. Andy Reid has one of the brightest offensive minds in the history of this beautiful game, and the Chiefs desperately need a speedster after Tyquan Thornton's long-term injury.

Johnson has shown flashes here and there. He won't be Tyreek Hill, of course, but he can probably be an upgrade over guys like Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who the Chiefs used as their 'boom-or-bust' pass catcher in the past.

The Chargers have every incentive to move on from him. They might blow it up and even get someone to replace Justin Herbert, though landing Jeremiah Smith would probably be better. Either way, Johnston might be the odd man out.

And while trading him to the best team in the division might be a fireable offense for most general managers, the harsh truth is that the Chiefs might be the only thing capable of bringing out the best in a player who has looked like a bust from the moment he set foot in the league.

As for the Chiefs, they can always move on from him after the season if things don't work out.
