The Kansas City Chiefs will be the last game to kick off on Sunday as they will face the Detroit Lions in primetime at Arrowhead. The Chiefs cannot afford to drop to 2-4 as they try to keep up with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West.

Speaking of the Broncos, they were the first matchup to start the Week 6 Sunday slate as they played the winless New York Jets. If you’re a Chiefs fan, you were hoping that the Jets would pull off the unthinkable and upset the Broncos in London, England, to knock them down to 3-3.

However, that did not happen as the Chiefs saw the Broncos come from behind to win 13-11 in an ugly overseas contest.

Chiefs Watch Broncos Win Third-Straight Game to Start Sunday

The Chiefs have yet to play the Broncos, but they understand the importance of wins and losses through the first two months of the season.

Denver was coming off a hard-fought comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5, and was looking to show that wasn’t a fluke. The Broncos didn’t do much offensively against New York’s defense, as they only had 246 total yards of offense.

However, it didn’t matter as the Broncos’ defense was the true star of Sunday’s win against the Jets. Denver’s defense, which could give Kansas City trouble when they do play, stymied New York’s offense.

The Broncos held the Jets’ offense to 82 total yards, 2-of-15 on third down, and nine sacks on QB Justin Fields. It wasn’t the most visually pleasing game, as there were a bunch of punts (13 combined), but the Broncos did their job as they’re heading back to the United States.

As things currently stand, the Broncos are sitting in first place with a 4-2 record and could easily move to 5-2 as they have a home game against the New York Giants in Week 7.

Kansas City can’t worry about what the Broncos are doing; all they can do is control what is in front of them, which is the Lions. The Chiefs must win this game tonight, especially after what happened in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

If the Chiefs win Sunday night and the Chargers lose, both teams will be sitting at 3-3 and only one game behind the Broncos. However, if Kansas City fumbles this game, they will be sitting two games behind Denver, which isn’t ideal.

While Chiefs fans didn’t get their wish of the Broncos losing on Sunday morning, they hope that the odds will be in their favor against a hot Lions team.
