Recently Cut Chiefs Playmaker Quickly Lands Job Ahead of Week 16
The Kansas City Chiefs are 13-1 on the year despite being slammed with multiple injuries to countless different playmakers.
Just last week, Patrick Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in the win over the Cleveland Browns but is still expected to play against the Houston Texans on Saturday.
While the preparation for the game has started, the Chiefs decided to part ways with RB Clyde Edwards-Helarie on Dec. 16. While that move hurt some fans, as he spent four years in Kansas City, he quickly found a new home ahead of Week 16.
Chiefs News: Clyde Edwards-Helaire Signs With New Orleans Saints
According to Nick Underhill, the Saints are adding Edwards-Helaire to the team. This move comes shortly after Alvin Kamara suffered a groin injury last Sunday.
The 25-year-old was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and was a key force in the backfield for the first two seasons before falling out of favor in the backfield.
In 48 career games, Edwards-Helaire has logged 1,845 rushing yards, 765 receiving yards, and 19 total touchdowns. Isiah Pacheco came over in 2022 and quickly climbed to the top of the depth chart.
Edwards-Helaire was also dealing with PTSD earlier this season and was away from the team for a couple of weeks. He was activated off the IRD list in October but failed to get on the field for the Chiefs.
Although things came to an unexpected end, all Chief fans and members of the organization are wishing him the best of luck in the future.
He is heading back to his home state of Louisiana, where he played his college ball at LSU. Over three seasons with the Tigers, Edwards-Helaire compiled 2,103 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns. In addition, he had 595 receiving yards.
Edwards-Helaire enters a new chapter of his career and KC Kingdom wishes him all the best.
