Travis Kelce Addresses Off-Field 'Conspiracy Theory'
By Joe Summers
Travis Kelce became one of America's biggest stars over the last couple of years, thanks in large part due to the immense popularity of his New Heights podcast as well as his relationship with global icon Taylor Swift.
The Chiefs' future Hall-of-Fame tight end already landed a gig hosting a new television show, but it's now rumored that he'll be in the upcoming "Happy Gilmore 2" as well.
Adam Sandler's original is beloved in sports circles and he'll reprise his role in the sequel. It hasn't yet been confirmed if Kelce was cast, though he and his brother, Jason, addressed the rumors on the latest episode of New Heights.
Travis Kelce Addresses "Happy Gilmore 2" Rumors
"I didn't even know there was a job opening for 'Happy Gilmore 2,'" joked Kelce. "This is exactly what it says it is: a conspiracy theory."
While that sounds like a denial, Kelce then said, "Who knows? Conspiracy theories can come true." The brothers reference the evidence building to support Kelce's possible inclusion in the movie, pointing out they were in Los Angeles for movie deals and Travis wearing a 'Happy Gilmore' hat.
Jason said Travis could be Shooter McGavin's caddie in the flick, an idea that Travis supported. They admitted they love Adam Sandler and that Travis is looking for movie roles, so the idea isn't that far-fetched.
There is not currently a release date for the film, though it will appear on Netflix. Production and development are underway and I'm optimistic we'll see Travis in the movie. He's a known golf aficionado and he might just be the perfect addition to put the flick over the top.
