Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt was a limited participant at practice on Thursday, raising sudden questions about his availability on Monday Night Football against the Saints in Week 5.

Hunt apparently injured his shoulder on his final carry against the Chargers last Sunday. The extra day of rest gives him time to get ready, though Kansas City may be cautious given the upcoming bye.

During his first game back, Hunt had 85 yards from scrimmage on 16 touches, seemingly taking control of the backfield following Carson Steele's early fumble. If Hunt is limited or misses the contest, Steele and Samaje Perine would presumably handle the workload.

Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt Appears on Thursday's Injury Report

There hasn't yet been a report suggesting Hunt won't suit up. That being said, the Chiefs need to prioritize his health following the numerous injuries they've suffered offensively of late.

Mike Danna and Mecole Hardman were also limited. Danna missed Week 4, giving 2023 first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah a chance to shine. Hardman's comments to the media so far this week suggest he'll suit up, so Danna and Hunt remain the biggest questions.

It's notable that Hunt did participate in Thursday's practice to a limited capacity. Should he log a full practice ahead of Monday, he'll likely start at running back. Hunt made an immediate impact, showcasing the same dynamic ability from his early years with the organization.

Friday's practice will give fans an idea of his potential availability. The Chiefs' offense has enough ailments that Hunt's long-term health should be prioritized, though this feels like a contest that'll heavily depend on the defense's performance.

We'll keep you updated on Hunt's progress as new information becomes available.
