The Kansas City Chiefs are facing off against the Los Angeles Chargers in one of the most anticipated matchups of the NFL's Week 4 slate. In this AFC West showdown, we are going to get a good idea of whether the Chiefs will face a serious challenge for the division title. The Chargers started the season with two wins in two games but have been dealing with an ankle sprain to their star quarterback Justin Herbert.

Even though Herbert's status will be the most important talking point until kickoff on Sunday, the coaches prepare for every little detail in regard to their opponent. The Chargers' latest practice strategy is proof of how much preparation goes into each game.

According to The Athletic's Daniel Popper, the Chargers have been bringing in left-footed punters for the past couple of weeks in anticipation of facing the Chiefs. Kansas City's Matt Araiza is one of the few lefty punters in the league and the Chargers don't want to be caught unprepared.

The advantage left-footed punters bring to a team is well-documented. Bill Belichick long preferred lefty punters on his teams. The spin in the opposite direction from a lefty punt presents an additional challenge for the returner. Since there is only a handful of them in the league, special teams generally don't have too much experience with such punts.

That is why it's common for teams to bring in lefty punters for workouts and the Chargers are doing the same.

This advantage is obviously not much but if you are a title contender like the Chiefs, you need to get any edge you can over your opponents. Let's see if Kansas City can have an advantage over the Chargers on punt returns on Sunday.
