The Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready for their first AFC West matchup of the season as they travel to Los Angeles on Sunday for a crucial Week 4 clash against the Chargers. Sitting at 3-0 despite a tough early-season schedule, the Chiefs have a chance to open up a two-game cushion against their biggest divisional rivals with a win.

The Chargers are already facing a ton of injuries, making things a little easier for Andy Reid and the coaching staff. Star rookie Joe Alt will miss Sunday's game and quarterback Justin Herbert left their Week 3 matchup against the Steelers after re-aggravating his ankle injury. While many expected the Bolts to rest their star signal-caller ahead of their Week 5 bye so that he could give a longer rest to his ankle sprain, that may not be the plan in Los Angeles.

NFL News: Justin Herbert Getting Ready to Suit Up in Week 4 vs. Chiefs

The Athletic's Daniel Popper first reported that Jim Harbaugh was expecting Herbert to return to practice and be at least a limited participant. Then, Herbert himself took the stage and said they were not planning to rest against the Chiefs and he will do everything he can to play on Sunday.

This might certainly be gamesmanship by Harbaugh and his staff by keeping their cards close to their chest. They presumably don't want to give the Chiefs too much time to prepare for the backup Taylor Heinicke.

Harbaugh received a ton of criticism already after he rushed Herbert out there against the Steelers. The former Oregon star had suffered an ankle sprain in Week 2 and re-aggravated in the third quarter after getting sacked in Week 3. He was replaced by Heinicke to finish the game. If he risks Herbert again in a Week 4 matchup right before their bye week, he will get even more heat. Whether he will be willing to take that risk remains to be seen.
