The Chiefs have been one of the best bets in the NFL over the last half-decade but that hasn't stopped some foolish folks from throwing their money away fading Patrick Mahomes. One bettor in Las Vegas is already set to lose some cash in the 2024-25 season, putting down a $220,000 back on the Ravens in Week 1.

Kansas City opened as a three-point favorite but has since settled around -2.5 on the spread. The Chiefs lost in Week 1 last year but were missing Travis Kelce and Chris Jones. Provided no stars are suddenly absent, I expect Andy Reid's group to win.

That's bad news for this bettor, placing the largest wager I've seen yet on the season-opening matchup.

Bettor Places $220,000 Bet on Ravens vs. Chiefs

Jimmy Vacarro, who works as a bookmaker in Las Vegas, shared this ticket on social media. It's a bold bet, though this wouldn't be the first person to lose a bet against the Chiefs. Several large wagers were placed in the Super Bowl that wound up losers, just as I expect this one to be.

Including the postseason, the Chiefs are 5-1 in their last six games against the Ravens. Last year's AFC Championship game was a reminder of who the best team in the conference is. While I'm sure Baltimore is out for revenge, Kansas City is rightly favored.

FanDuel Sportsbook still has the odds at Chiefs -3 (-110) and -156 on the moneyline with the total set at 46.5. Fair questions remain about Kansas City's wide receiver room but they should be fully focused on a third straight Super Bowl win.

I expect nothing less than excellence from Week 1. This is a team that knows the historic achievements that could be ahead. Securing the AFC's No. 1 seed in the playoffs is far too important for any lapses in focus to occur.

Good luck to this bettor, though it's clear he'll be on the losing end.
