Rashee Rice Reportedly Sued by Two Victims in Crash
By Joe Summers
Editor's Note: This story has been updated to reflect both the $1 million in monetary relief and $10 million in punitive damages after initially only listing the $1 million.
Rashee Rice is reportedly being sued by two victims from the six-vehicle crash in Dallas on March 30th. Rice and Theodore Knox, who plays for SMU and was driving Rice's Corvette at the time of the accident, are being sued for $1 million in monetary relief and $10 million in punitive damages according to a lawsuit filed in Dallas County.
The plaintiffs, Irina Gromova and Edvard Petrovskiy, were both driving their respective vehicles when the crash occurred. They list severe injuries including "trauma to the brain, lacerations to the face requiring stitches, multiple contusions about the body, disfigurement, internal bleeding, and other internal and external injuries that may only be fully revealed over the course of medical treatment."
They are suing for negligence and punitive damages, demanding a trial by jury in civil court.

Since this is a civil lawsuit, it is separate from the eight criminal charges that both Rice and Knox face. It's unclear whether the Chiefs or NFL would take into account the results of a civil trial when determining Rice's punishment.
The NFL has not yet made an official statement regarding the situation, though Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid spoke to local media on Monday, telling reporters that he has spoken to Rice and while the organization is letting the legal investigation play out, Rice will participate in the first phase of the Chiefs' virtual offseason program.
Rice is cooperating with law enforcement and despite some calls for him to be released by Kansas City, appears remorseful for his actions.
Nonetheless, actions have consequences. There is a long ways to go in this investigation, and it's possible Rice and Knox will face additional civil lawsuits from the other victims involved. None of the other victims have made a public statement or filed a lawsuit thus far.
This is a developing story and we'll continue to update you as more information becomes available.
