The Chiefs are expected to be active in the trade market prior to the November 4 deadline and one name being suggested is a former All-Pro who actually wanted to come to Kansas City last season.

Panthers WR Adam Thielen is a proven veteran who just eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards last year. He's toiling away on a terrible team and Adam Schefter of ESPN said on Monday that he's a guy the Chiefs could target.

Coincidentally enough, he tried to join the organization in 2023 but was rebuked. Now, Brett Veach can fix his mistake.

Panthers WR Adam Thielen Rumored as Chiefs Trade Target

While teammate Diontae Johnson was mentioned in the same clip, Thielen might be an easier player for Carolina to part with. He's got another year left on his contract but there is a potential out before next year, giving Kansas City some wiggle room.

Thielen is "a veteran you'd probably want to do right by," Schefter explained. "If you're 1-6 at the trade deadline, if you're 2-7, whatever it may be." He's right that the Panthers could want to send out veterans in return for draft capital as they rebuilt the roster for the future, especially now that it's clear Bryce Young is a bust at QB.

For the Chiefs, Thielen would be a dependable route-runner and valuable red-zone threat. He's got 7,805 career receiving yards and 60 TDs but he's never achieved true playoff success. Kansas City could give him the opportunity to finally win a ring and cap off an illustrious career.

He's currently on the injured reserve list with a hamstring injury but is expected back soon. By the time the Chiefs actually want to make a trade, Thielen should be healthy.

We don't yet know who Kansas City might go after, if they even pursue a trade. However, Thielen represents the kind of low-cost acquisition that could keep the offense above water after all of these injuries.
