Is that the Jaws theme music I hear?

The Kansas City Chiefs are no longer Super Bowl favorites, trailing the 49ers, but there's blood in the water and the Shark is loose.

Former Chiefs' star Frank Clark was released by the Denver Broncos today, paving the way for a potential homecoming for the franchise's all-time leader in postseason sacks (10.5).

Could Clark really come back to Kansas City?

Potential Frank Clark Reunion With Chiefs

Clark spent four seasons with the Chiefs, compiling 23.5 regular season sacks and 10.5 postseason sacks en route to two Super Bowl championships. He's not only Kansas City's all-time leading postseason pass rusher, but he's also third in NFL history with 13.5 playoff sacks.

The Chiefs could always use capable pass rushers and reuniting with Andy Reid and Chris Jones would give Clark a chance to chase the NFL's all-time postseason sack record. He's 2.5 sacks short of Willie McGinest, so an extended playoff run with Kansas City may be just what Clark needs.

Signing Clark would also give the Chiefs a huge boost. Kansas City already boasts one of the league's best defenses, but adding a fiery, battle-tested leader would help ease the load on the defensive line and give opponents another element to worry about.

Clark's epic postgame playoff rants aside, he would bring an energy to the defense that would help make the Chiefs Super Bowl favorites once again.

We already know Chris Jones wants the Robin to his Batman back. Now, the ball is in Brett Veach's court as we await to see the Shark's final destination.

I wouldn't go in the water just yet if I were you.

Frank Clark to Chiefs Update

Accoring to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the most likely outcome is that Frank Clark does indeed return to Kansas City.

Where there's smoke, there's often fire. If the two sides can make the salary work without hamstringing Kansas City's front office, it seems Clark will get his chance to break a record and earn a third ring after all.
