NFL PR Shares Update on Rashee Rice
By Joe Summers
The developing legal controversy for Rashee Rice has another update, as NFL PR reportedly told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the league is monitoring the situation.
Rice has retained legal counsel and released a statement through his attorney, while new updates indicate he may be responsible for both vehicles involved in the six-car accident in Dallas on Saturday evening.
Four individuals were treated with minor injuries. The Chiefs have not yet released an official statement, though team president Mark Donovan told KCMO Talk Radio the team is gathering information and will take the appropriate action.
NFL PR Reportedly Monitoring Rashee Rice Situation
Considered a rising star in the league, Rice burst onto the scene in his rookie year to become the Chiefs' second-most reliable pass catcher. It's not yet clear what kind of punishment, if any, the former second-round pick will face, though the league has the incentive to crack down on vehicle-related incidents following the tragic accident involving Henry Ruggs.
Rice is reportedly cooperating with law enforcement and we don't know if he was physically present at the time of the incident.
Nonetheless, it's a bad situation for Rice and the Chiefs as a whole. Off-field incidents can derail careers and Kansas City wants to be focused on winning a historic third consecutive Super Bowl.
This is a developing story and we'll continue to update you as new reports become available.
