Former Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney reportedly worked out with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, landing his first real opportunity after being cut by Kansas City ahead of the roster deadline.

Toney became the odd man out for the Chiefs after a flurry of offseason acquisitions that landed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Xavier Worthy, and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Seattle has a stacked wide receiver room with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba but lacks proven depth outside of the top three.

The former first-round pick still has tons of upside and makes sense as a dart-throw for a team like the Seahawks who could use a spark.

While the end of Toney's time in Kansas City didn't go well, it's obvious why the front office and coaching staff were enamored with his talent. Brett Veach previously said Toney was the most talented receiver on the roster, and a cursory glance at his highlight tapes supports that assertion.

It's not yet clear if Seattle intends to sign him. Either way, Toney likely won't be without a job for very long. His skillset is rare, even in the NFL, so some organization will talk themselves into giving him another opportunity sooner than later.

During his two seasons with the Chiefs, Toney only caught 41 passes for 340 yards and three TDs, though holds the record for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history. He caught a TD in that victory over the Eagles as well. Based on that success alone, Kansas City's trade for him has to be considered a net positive.

Here's hoping Toney lands on his feet and gets back on the field quickly.
