Kansas City Chiefs fans have been monitoring the L'Jarius Sneed situation throughout the NFL offseason. The veteran cornerback's name has been all over sports media as rumors swirl regarding both contract and trade negotiations, leaving time to tell if his time in Kansas City will be over sooner rather than later.

But while a lot of signs pointed to Sneed heading out the door, that might not be the case anymore. The latest report regarding his situation brings good news for Kansas City fans hoping to see the 27-year-old stick around.

Chiefs Trade Rumors: Kansas City Might Not Move L'Jarius Sneed

NFL insider Destin Adams reports that any teams interested in Sneed are "waiting on the Chiefs to make a decision on if they plan on trading the CB at all." Adams adds that the interested parties are hopeful to get an answer about Sneed's future in the coming days.

In other words, the Sneed saga is far from over.

On one hand, the Chiefs know that keeping Sneed improves their chances of a three-peat. The former Louisiana Tech defender was Pro Football Focus' No. 30-ranked cornerback last season after allowing only 42 receptions on 81 targets for 406 yards without a touchdown and a 55.9 passer rating.

On the other hand, it isn't guaranteed that Sneed will stay in Kansas City even if he loves it here. The two sides still need to work out a long-term extension and if they can't agree on a financial figure, it makes sense to trade him before the situation becomes a locker-room distraction.

The Chiefs could also be waiting for teams to sign all of the best free-agent cornerbacks. That way, general manager Brett Veach can drive up the asking price to get the best return possible for the two-time Super Bowl Champion.

Hopefully, the situation will resolve itself soon. Whether Chiefs fans want to see Sneed stay or go, we can all agree that we don't want things to drag on. If Kansas City can get a solid return for him, great. But if he stays around and helps deliver a third straight Super Bowl ring, even better.

But for now, all we can do is wait and see.
