L'Jarius Sneed Injury Update Puts Trade Concerns to Rest
By Cem Yolbulan
Chiefs fans thought that the L'Jarius Sneed saga was finally over when Kansas City traded the star cornerback to the Tennessee Titans for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick swap. This return wasn't seen as a sufficient enough package for a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback.
While that may be true, concerns about Sneed's knee, which kept him out of the 2023 training camp, were seen as a potential red flag for teams.
It turns out, there was nothing to be scared about. On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport reported that not only did Sneed pass his physical with his new team, but he also signed a massive contract extension.
The 27-year-old will be with the Titans on a four-year, $76.4 million contract with $55 million guaranteed.
L'Jarius Sneed Passes Physical, Gets Massive Contract Extension
This officially puts any concern about the trade falling through to bed. Sneed is officially not a Kansas City Chief anymore.
Sneed, who just finished a four-year, $3.9 million rookie deal with the Chiefs is getting a massive pay raise. This was the first time the fourth-round pick got to test the open market in his NFL career and it seemed to pay off for the Louisiana Tech standout.
The Chiefs will certainly miss the physicality and intensity of Sneed on their secondary. But they have found success developing cornerbacks in the past. Plus, there are still available corners on the market that they can look to target in free agency.
