After weeks of speculation about L'Jarius Sneed's potential future with the Chiefs, he has reportedly officially been traded to the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Sneed was traded for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick swap, a far cry from the 2024 first or second that was initial hoped for by Chiefs fans.

Sneed and the Titans are expected to announce a contract extension following a physical that will make him one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in NFL history.

It was reported that the Titans and Chiefs re-engaged in trade talks earlier this week after rumors the deal was dead, and now we know that Sneed and Tennessee agreed to a framework for the extension, letting the trade proceed.

A two-time Super Bowl champion and one of the best cornerbacks in the league, Sneed will leave Kansas City a hero after his spectacular season, highlighted by his dramatic forced fumble on Zay Flowers at the one-yard line in the AFC Championship game.

The former fourth-round pick out of Louisiana Tech deserves a massive payday. Once it became clear the Chiefs didn't want to extend that kind of contract to him, Sneed was free to find another suitor. Now, he'll get the money he's both dreamed of and deserved.

He'll end his Chiefs career with 303 tackles, 40 deflected passes, 10 interceptions, 6.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries over four seasons.

While Sneed deserves this, it hurts to see him go. Trent McDuffie, Joshua Williams and Jaylon Watson will now lead the secondary, though replacing the best shadow corner on the team is a tough pill to swallow.

Nonetheless, Sneed will go down a legend in Kansas City lore. Here's hoping he finds success in Tennessee as well.

The Chiefs still have the second-best odds to win next year's Super Bowl at +650, but it's likely there was already an expectation that Sneed would move on baked into the odds. We'll see if things change in the coming days. For now, Kansas City is still considered one of the NFL's elite teams, as they should be.
