Mock draft season is underway and Chiefs fans are clamoring for improvements at wide receiver with several ideal targets available in the first round.

However, one recently released mock draft has Kansas City going in a different direction, bolstering the offensive line while eschewing the largest position of need.

Chiefs Draft Rumors: Mock Draft Has KC Taking OT Patrick Paul

Tice has the Chiefs going with Houston tackle Patrick Paul, choosing to address wide receiver in the later rounds.

Forgive me if I'd be incredibly underwhelmed with this decision. Yes, the line has been disappointing, but we're locked into Jawaan Taylor next year and rookie Wanya Morris has performed admirably on the left side filling in for Donovan Smith.

Wide receiver is the clear biggest need and I don't want to wait to fix it. Tice argues we should, though, and here's what he has to say:

"The Chiefs look for a real long-term upgrade at the left tackle position in Paul. He's inconsistent, but has size and real upside. Plus, Paul plays with a competitive attitude that will give the Chiefs' offensive line something they’ve missed this season."

Adding a long-term, impact tackle would certainly help the offense and Paul seems like a fine player. That wouldn't stop fans from being frustrated given the circumstances of this season.

Fingers crossed Veach makes a splashier move in Round 1. It should be quite an interesting draft season.
