While teams around the league are desperately trying to cut down their rosters from 90 to 53 before Tuesday's deadline, Chiefs fans were hoping for some good news on the injury front. One of the main points of concern in Kansas City has been the status of Chris Jones. The star defensive lineman suffered a shoulder injury in training camp on August 5 and wasn't available in practices or preseason games since then.

The Chiefs finally received good news from their five-time Pro Bowler who participated in Monday's practice, according to The Athletic's Nate Taylor.

Chiefs News: Chris Jones Back at Practice on Monday

Chiefs fans were particularly worried about Jones because he had missed some time due to a groin injury earlier in training camp. Hopefully, the latest update erases all doubts about the availability and performance of Jones on Sep. 5 against the Ravens.

Perhaps these concerns were always misplaced. Jones had missed the 2023 training camp before delivering another All-Pro season last year. He had already joked about asking head coach Andy Reid for some off days during training camp. He knows his body better than anybody and presumably doesn't need the grueling Andy Reid practices to get ready for the season. The star defensive tackle has been one of the most consistent and productive players in the league over the last five years, after all.

The Chiefs made Jones the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history this offseason when they signed him to a five-year, $158.75 million deal. He will continue to be the team leader on the defensive end and one of the most important players in the Chiefs' pursuit of a historic three-peat.
