Isiah Pacheco Injury Paves Way for Perfect Reunion With Ex-Chiefs RB
The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0 after they edged out the Cincinnati Bengals 26-25 in a dramatic win.
Although they have secured two wins, it didn't come without a cost. On Monday morning, the Chiefs announced that running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula. The timeline for his absence has yet to be revealed but he will miss a significant amount of time.
That now leaves a lot of touches available for RB1, and that creates the window for Kansas City to re-sign Kareem Hunt.
Could Chiefs Reunite with RB Kareem Hunt?
The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after spending the past five seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
Hunt was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Chiefs but was cut after two seasons. This is the perfect opportunity for both sides to rekindle this relationship.
Hunt is a powerful ball carrier who doesn't go down at first contact. He also has secure hands as a pass-catcher and could be a safety valve in the passing game.
In two seasons with the Chiefs, Hunt supplied 2,151 rushing yards, 833 receiving yards, and 25 total touchdowns.
Then across the five seasons with Cleveland, Hunt had 2,285 rushing yards, 1,057 receiving yards, and 32 scores.
With Pacheco likely to return at some point this season, Hunt seems like a nice pivot for Brett Veach and Andy Reid to make. He left the organization on bad terms the first time, though perhaps the relationship can be healed.
Kansas City does have Samaje Perine and Carson Steele on the roster but the addition of Hunt would help them stay afloat in the run game during Pacheco's absence.
