Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu appears to be nearing his return, at least if you believe his most recent social media posts. Omenihu had long targeted a mid-season game to come back from his ACL tear.

Based on what he posted to X (better known as Twitter), that return could be sooner than expected. Kansas City's pass-rush has been surprisingly mediocre through three games, though Chris Jones and George Karlaftis still look like two of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL.

Instead, it's been those behind them who haven't been as effective. Mike Danna could be dealing with an injury, which explains some of his struggles though increases Omenihu's importance.

Charles Omenihu Hints at Returning Soon

While Omenihu was suspended for the first six games of last season due to a domestic violence violation, he quickly made an impact on the field.

He had seven sacks in 11 games and notched another in the AFC Championship before getting hurt. Omenihu has been clear that he wants a large contract extension this offseason. That feels unlikely to come from the Chiefs, though the only way he can get the payday he wants is if he has a big year for Kansas City.

In all likelihood, Omenihu won't come back before the Week 6 bye. Week 7 against the 49ers suddenly feels like possibility. The team hasn't commented on his status, but Omenihu has kept Chiefs fans updated throughout his recovery.

This defense needs him to reach its full potential, so here's hoping he'll be on the field sooner than later.
