The Chiefs have issues at wide receiver and one former playoff hero is reportedly attempting an NFL comeback.

Sammy Watkins, who spent three seasons with the Chiefs and led the team in playoff receiving yards (288) in the 2019 Super Bowl run, isn't done quite yet despite spending the first nine weeks of this 2023-24 season as a free agent.

Get the latest on Watkins' attempted return below.

Former Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins Attempting NFL Comeback

Watkins spent nine games with the Green Bay Packers and three with the Baltimore Ravens last year, 325 yards on 16 catches with no TDs.

Despite a tenure marred by injured with the Chiefs, Watkins amassed 129 catches for 1,613 yards and eight TDs over three seasons in Kansas City.

However, his most memorable moments came in the postseason. The former first-round pick out of Clemson totaled 477 receiving yards over three playoff runs, with his exhilarating 60-yard TD against the Titans in 2019 being one of the defining plays of this era of Chiefs football.

Ahh, memories.

It's yet to be reported what the results of Watkins' workout with the Colts are or if any other teams are interested. The Chiefs don't appear interested in acquiring any receivers after bringing back Mecole Hardman, though it's fun to imagine Watkins coming back for another shot at a Super Bowl ring.

I'm rooting for Sammy to get back on an NFL field. He was always one of the most interesting people in the league, after all.
