One former Chief reportedly rejected a potential reunion with Kansas City to re-sign with the Miami Dolphins, as defensive end DE Emmanuel Ogbah elected to stay with Tyreek Hill rather than join the two-time defending Super Bowl champions in a quest for a three-peat.

Ogbah spent the 2019 season with the Chiefs, compiling 32 tackles and 5.5 sacks before signing with the Dolphins. He has 24.5 sacks in four years in Miami, becoming one of the league's more consistent edge rushers.

Kansas City has a crowded defensive line rotation, though Charles Omenihu's recovery from his ACL tear would've given Ogbah significant snaps during an important stretch of the season.

Surprisingly, Ogbah fetched only $3.25 million for one year. That's a price tag the Chiefs were apparently interested in, though the 2016 second-round pick out of Oklahoma State preferred his current situation to his old one.

His deal could reach $5 million in incentives and he'll likely have more snaps down the stretch in Miami than he would've in Kansas City, though it's unclear exactly why Ogbah chose to re-sign or if the Chiefs even made an explicit offer.

Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, Mike Danna, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, and eventually Omenihu make up a ferocious unit that ranked second in the NFL with 57 sacks last season. Ogbah would've provided additional depth though he would've been a luxury, not a necessity, and would likely take away snaps from Anudike-Uzomah as the Chiefs try to develop the 2023 first-rounder.

Either way, Kansas City is the class of the AFC. Proven by the Chiefs' dominant AFC Wild Card victory last year, the Dolphins still have a long way to go before they're ready to compete for a Super Bowl.

Perhaps Ogbah can find another gear and improve the situation, but he might've just turned down his best chance at a ring in 2024.
