Failed Chiefs Draft Pick Quickly Lands With NFC Contender
By Joe Summers
The Green Bay Packers wasted no time in swooping up a 2024 Chiefs draft pick following roster cuts this week. They signed sixth-round CB Kamal Hadden on Thursday following Kansas City's surprise release of the rookie, snagging a player whose profile the two-time defending Super Bowl champions clearly believe in.
Hadden was a surprise cut for the Chiefs, especially given general manager Brett Veach's storied history of successful late-round draft choices in the secondary.
The former Tennessee standout has enough talent to succeed at the professional level, though the overwhelming amount of talent on Kansas City's roster made him expendable.

Despite missing a large chunk of the 2023 season due to injury, Hadden still had an excellent profile worthy of being drafted. It looked like he was the perfect fit for Steve Spagnuolo's defense, though he couldn't earn a roster spot over the summer for one reason or another.
Green Bay has one of the most promising young rosters in the league. The defense is considered a weakness, giving Hadden an opportunity to shine as a missing piece. He'll presumably be on the active 53-man roster for most of the year.
If Hadden reaches his ceiling, the Chiefs will regret letting him go. Veach has a knack for scouting talent in the secondary so fans should trust him, though releasing a 2024 pick so quickly stings regardless.
Kansas City won't face Hadden in 2024 barring a Super Bowl matchup, but you can bet they'll see him eventually provided he's given the proper chance to shine.
