Chris Jones Makes Perfect Tweet After Contract News
The Chris Jones contract saga finally ended on Saturday after it was revealed the star defender and the Kansas City Chiefs had agreed on a new five-year deal. Now Jones and KC can begin to prep for their extended future with each other instead of wondering if the other wants to move on.
Suffice it to say, Jones is very excited about what might take place over the next couple of years as a Chief.
Following his extension being announce, Jones took to Twitter/X to weigh in. He posted a picture of him and fellow defensive tackle Mike Pennel celebrating the team's most recent Super Bowl win. The veteran added the caption, "KC...5 more years of greatneess! 3X".
It's clear Jones is planning to keep contending with Kansas City now that he's officially on board for the next five years. His return certainly boosts the Chiefs' elite defense, which now has its d-line lynchpin locked down on a long-term deal.
This is quite the surprise resolution to this situation after the two sides seemed content with the 2023 campaign being their last together when talks broke down this past offseason. However, the success Kansas City enjoyed, capped off with a huge Super Bowl victory, likely played a big part in swaying Jones to stick around.
With Jones' contract out of the way, the attention now turns to the Chiefs' front office as free agency prepares to get started. L'Jarius Sneed's potential exit from the team is the biggest storyline to monitor for the defending back-to-back champs.
