Chiefs Should Steal This Free Agent Away From the Raiders

The Chiefs have made a series of terrific offseason moves, retaining a number of key veterans highlighted by Chris Jones and bringing in 1,000-yard receiver Hollywood Brown to bolster the pass-catching group.

However, there are still a few questions that remain and one former Raider would be the perfect free-agent addition to the offense. 28-year-old WR Hunter Renfrow is still a free agent and his combination of steady play and experience would help finalize a wide receiver group that still needs one more piece.

Chiefs Free Agency: WR Hunter Renfrow is a Perfect Fit

Renfrow excels as a slot receiver, which would compliment Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce. His best year came in 2021, catching 103 passes on 128 targets for 1,038 yards and nine TDs.

With the uncertainty surrounding Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore, Renfrow would provide an immediate upgrade to the group's depth and give Patrick Mahomes a reliable player who can find soft spots in zone coverage with ease.

While his 2023 season was disappointing, the Raiders were a mess offensively and I still believe Renfrow has solid football left in him. I fully anticipate that the Chiefs will draft a receiver in the early rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, though Renfrow's addition would still be a boost to the offense.

Since he's still unsigned and the receiver class is loaded, it doesn't look like it'd cost the Chiefs much to acquire him. A cheap, one-year deal would benefit all parties and let Renfrow go hunt a larger payday in 2025.

Kansas City currently has +650 odds to win the Super Bowl, though moves like this could help push the Chiefs over the top for a third straight Lombardi Trophy.
