If you think the Chiefs have a real chance to become the second team ever to go undefeated in the regular season, there's one smart way to bet it and one poor one.

Kansas City went 11-6 last year and face a difficult schedule, but they still have the shortest odds to go 17-0. This should be one of the NFL's most dominant teams once again, though the Chiefs have shown over the years they can sometimes come out sluggish knowing all that really matters is how they're playing in the playoffs.

Even still, make sure you're getting the best value for your bet if you're looking an one of the undefeated specials that sportsbooks offer.

How to Bet on Chiefs to Go 17-0

A $1 bet on this special at DraftKings Sportsbook would profit $40 if the Chiefs go undefeated in the regular season. However, if you started with $1 and rolled over your winnings throughout the season and just bet the Chiefs to win every week, you'd wind up with a significantly larger profit.

DraftKings already has odds out for every single game this season. While these are subject to change week-to-week, we can get an idea of where they stand.

If you started with $1 and bet the Chiefs on the moneyline every week with the current odds, rolling over your winnings to increase your bet with the new total each week, you'd profit $1054.62. Not only does that dramatically increase the payout, but it also gives you the option each week to keep your profit and stop betting or just save some winnings.

In the Week 18 matchup against Denver, you'd be betting $693.45, which is obviously a considerable amount and much more than the $1 you started with. You could save some winnings each week and adjust for potential injuries or breakout teams, depending on your risk tolerance at that time.

I don't typically recommend doing straight rollover bets, since it's wise to ensure you have some winnings left over. Using this strategy instead of using the undefeated special allows a larger payday and gives you more options along the way, thus it's the way to go in my opinion.

It's overwhelmingly likely that the Chiefs will lose a game. They've never gone undefeated. Even the odds of +4000 imply only a 2.44% chance. Shoot, they didn't even win their first game last year. That being said, if you think they could go 17-0, just be sure you're maximizing your potential winnings.
