The Chiefs Might Have a Travis Kelce Problem

I believe Travis Kelce is the greatest Chiefs player of all time, serving as the bridge between constant mediocrity and unprecedented success.

It then pains me to say that Kansas City might have a Travis Kelce problem.

After an underwhelming five-catch, 28-yard performance against the Patriots, the Chiefs need more production from Kelce if they're going to make a run at a third Super Bowl win in the last five years.

Do the Chiefs Have a Travis Kelce Problem?

This would have been a difficult catch, but it's one we've seen Kelce make countless times over his Hall of Fame career. Something doesn't look right with Kelce, whether it's due to age or injury, and Kansas City's offense has struggled as a result.

From his critical fumble in the loss to the Eagles to this Sunday's dropped TD, Kelce hasn't made the same plays he used to make. He hasn't eclipsed 100 receiving yards since October 22nd.

It's no wonder, then, that Kelce is on pace for his worst statistical season with Patrick Mahomes. That's not to say Kelce isn't still a dominant force, as he's on pace for his eighth straight season with 1,000+ receiving yards.

However, he's not the singularly dominant force he once was. Given the struggles of the Chiefs' other receivers, Kelce's worsening production could be a big problem.

Rashee Rice looks like an emerging star, thankfully, and it's telling that Rice now leads the team in red zone targets and TDs. If Kelce can't find his way by the playoffs, the Chiefs' offense could be in for a rude awakening in the postseason.
