Chiefs Know What Position They're Drafting in First Round per Betting Odds
By Joe Summers
The 2024 NFL Draft is still over a month away but we've made it through the combine and teams are zeroing in on what players they're targeting in the first round.
Kansas City has several needs that could be addressed with the No. 32 overall pick, but betting odds suggest the Chiefs may know what position they plan to bolster with that first-round draft pick.
Not even two weeks ago, DraftKings Sportsbook had wide receiver listed at +125 and offensive lineman at +200. Now, wide receiver is at -175, representing a massive shift. These odds don't guarantee anything, though they're a useful guide indicating what oddsmakers believe the Chiefs will do.
Chiefs NFL Draft Betting Odds: KC Favored to Draft a Wide Receiver
A $10 bet two weeks ago would have profitted $12.50 if the Chiefs took a wide receiver. Today, you'd need to bet $17.50 to earn a $10 profit.
This is a loaded class for wide receivers. While top guys like Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze will all be off the board, the Chiefs should have their choice of the next couple of tiers depending on how things shake out.
Brian Thomas Jr., Xaiver Worthy, Keon Coleman, Javon Baker, Adonai Mitchell, Troy Franklin, Ladd McConkey, and Xavier Legette are all options, and Kansas City may even wait until the second round to address the position if the board falls right.
That looks less likely according to these odds. A fluctuating market like this one can change in an instant though, so it's wise to keep an eye on any new reports in the coming weeks.
Brett Veach has an excellent opportunity to retool the offense after last year's receiving issues. Whether he takes a wide receiver in the first or second round, you can bet at least one of these guys will be a Chief once the draft rolls around.
