Chiefs Get Encouraging Injury Update on Star Linebacker
By Joe Summers
Chiefs fans, rejoice!
Star linebacker Nick Bolton hasn't played since October 22nd after requiring surgery for a dislocated wrist, but it sounds like the former Missouri Tiger is close to returning.
In fact, Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid told reporters today that Bolton would begin practicing. He won't play against the Packers on Sunday, but it looks likely he'll be available by the end of the season.
Here's the latest:
Chiefs Injury News: Nick Bolton Returning to Practice
One of the best linebackers in the league, Bolton had 180 tackles last season before battling early-season injuries prior to going on the Injured Reserve list.
His return would be a massive boost for Kansas City's defense which already ranks among the best in the NFL. The Chiefs will earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC if they win the remainder of their games, though Bolton's addition would obviously help matters.
Prior to his injury, Bolton had 28 tackles and an interception. He's got one year left on his contract though expects to begin negotiations on an extension this offseason.
If Bolton returns to help lead the Chiefs to another Super Bowl, Brett Veach and the front office will likely want to keep him in red for the foreseeable future.
For now, we'll anxiously await Bolton's return to the field to bolster what already may be the NFL's best defense.
