Charles Omenihu Shares Update on Injury Recovery Timeline
By Joe Summers
Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu is still in the midst of recovery from surgery to repair a Torn ACL, an injury he suffered in the AFC Championship win over Baltimore. It sounds like his recovery is going well and he took to social media to update fans on his progress.
In a post shared on Instagram, Omenihu said that he can start walking and believes he's on the path to a full recovery, noting that he's "7 weeks out" in an optimistic tone.
Given that Omenihu had seven sacks in just 11 games and made a major impact in the playoffs, getting him back to full speed before the season would be a massive win for Kansas City's defense.
Chiefs News: Charles Omenihu Shares Update on Recovery Timeline
The ACL recovery process is grueling and it appears Omenihu is on track to get back in time for the start of the 2024-25 season. Brett Veach prioritized keeping the entire defensive line together in the offseason, completing his goal by re-signing DE Mike Danna late last week.
With Chris Jones, Danna, Omenihu, George Karlaftis and 2023 first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah, the Chiefs have an impressive group of pass rushers that can terrorize offenses. Even if Omenihu isn't at full strength to start the year, he should be just fine by the time Kansas City really needs him regardless.
He had 5.5 sacks over his final six games of the regular season, establishing himself as the perfect complement to the Chiefs' established defensive linemen. As the organization tries to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls, this continuity and high-end play are important factors.
We'll see if Omenihu is ultimately able to make a full recovery before the season, though it seems he's well on his way to returning to the field sooner than later.
