Bobby Witt Jr. Reveals if He Wants to Stay with KC Royals
By Joe Summers
The Royals have a lot of decisions to make this offseason as J.J. Picollo and the front office hope to put a competitive team on the field next season.
While Bobby Witt Jr.'s superstar breakout is thrilling for Royals fans, the elephant in the room is whether he'll sign a long-term extension or join the ranks of incredible players who ultimately left for greener pastures.
Witt Jr. has officially spoken on his interest in staying with the franchise. Royals fans will love what he had to say.
Bobby Witt Jr. Reveals if He Wants to Stay with KC Royals
In an interview with Todd Leabo of Sports Radio 810 WHB in Kansas City, Witt Jr. was asked directly if this is the organization he'd like to be with.
Witt Jr. didn't hesitate.
"No doubt," he replied. "That's what I tell everyone. This is the organization I got drafted by and the organization I came up with."
The former No. 2 overall pick remarked the Royals are "all I've known, really." Obviously, Kansas City would need to offer a substantial contract extension, but it sounds like Witt Jr. at least hopes to find success with the Royals.
He said the goal is to "win a World Series for the city of Kansas City, for the fans, for everyone."
Witt Jr. seems loyal to his teammates, noting that winning with "all the people we came up with...makes things a lot more special...It just makes it feel a lot more special if you're able to do it with that team you came up with."
That's spectacular to hear, especially considering the obvious improvements the Royals need to make. Fingers crossed the rest of the offseason is as exciting as that audio is.
