The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had the best of luck regarding injuries in training camp. The two-time defending Super Bowl champions have seen a few players get hit with the injury bug on both sides of the ball.

Defensively, the Chiefs are still without starting safety Justin Reid. Reid is dealing with a quad injury that could endanger his regular-season debut. Along with Reid, the Chiefs saw linebacker Nic Bolton escape a serious elbow injury this week, but he should be okay.

However, the same cannot be said for veteran defensive back Deon Bush. According to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, the Chiefs announced that Bush missed Thursday’s training camp practice with an ankle injury.

Chiefs News: S Deon Bush Misses Thursday's Practice

The Chiefs hope Bush’s injury isn’t serious and just for Thursday since they are already without Reid. Kansas City re-signed Bush in the offseason to a one-year deal.

Last season with Kansas City, the 30-year-old defensive back only played seven games as he spent most of the year on the practice squad. However, in 2022, Bush was one of the Chiefs’ best special team contributors.

The 6-foot safety had 11 combined tackles, a pass deflection, and played 73 percent of special teams snaps. Bush is entering his third season with the Chiefs after spending the first years of his career with the Chicago Bears. The Bears took Bush in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

With Reid’s status for Week 1 of the regular season in jeopardy, the Chiefs could see Bush and rookie Jaden Hicks filling in throughout the preseason.
