Andy Reid's Xavier Worthy Play Call Proves Tyreek Hill Comparison
By Joe Summers

Excuse the hyperbole, but Andy Reid certainly doesn't mind comparing Tyreek Hill to rookie WR Xavier Worthy.
That is, if you believe the play calls from the Chiefs' second preseason game against the Lions. The 24-23 loss served as a sort of coming out party for Worthy, who caught three passes for 62 yards and TD while adding an 11-yard rush on a jet sweep.
Worthy hauled in a beautiful 39-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes on a play design that should look eerily similar to Chiefs Kingdom.

There are a few key differences in the play, but the general idea is the same. Worthy runs a deep corner, creating space in the defense dependent on the other routes in the design.
Dave Toub has already compared Worthy to Hill, so to see the coaching staff deploy the most famous play in Kansas City history to feature Worthy in his first massive catch has to make fans feel excited.
Expectations for Worthy's rookie season are climbing, especially after the unfortunate injury to Hollywood Brown. The former Texas Longhorns star will have to be a factor from day one, and Reid's intentions here are obvious.
This is the first player in the Mahomes era who has the speed to rival Hill's. Whether or not he matches that otherworldly speed is irrelevant. What matters is that the coaching staff can now utilize these deep passes that have been missing from the Chiefs' offense since Hill's departure.
The sky's the limit for Worthy and this play call gave Kansas City its first true taste of the impact Worthy can have on this offense.
